This is a great soaking tub, however if you’re using it as a tub/shower combo, there’s hardly any room to safely step into the tub on the right-hand side (if your drain is on the left) due to the backrest being so slanted. This is something neither we nor our contractor anticipated. We couldn’t even get the popular barn-door style shower glass door that we wanted installed due to this issue. We were forced to go with a regular style glass shower door since it slides open a little further allowing a bit more access to the bottom flat part of the tub where you put your foot down to step in. We have a toilet on the left end of the tub/shower combo so there’s no room on the other side to step into the tub where it’s much flatter on the bottom (and for that matter there’s no room to put a bath mat on the tile at that end of the tub either since a toilet is in the way).

This would be a great choice if you use it as a tub alone and have the space for a completely separate shower. Or this would be a great choice if you *don’t* use a sliding glass shower door and instead use a shower curtain.

We had to install a grab bar to get in and out of the only accessible side of the tub, but it still poses as a slip and fall hazard.

Our plumber liked the tub and said it was coated in fiberglass which makes it better quality. But I’m 5’9, weigh 120 lbs (tall and thin) and I’m in my early 40’s and have a difficult time getting in and out. I can only imagine someone larger or older struggling as well.

Armrests are nice (other soaker tubs had armrests that looked scrawny) and the paneling on the apron adds a nice touch to the decor.

But we never thought that by searching for a tub with a more comfortable backrest that we’d be sacrificing our safety.
