The design industry is ever changing styles and creative releases are constantly being placed on shelves. More specifically, it can be tough to navigate new kitchen appliances and how to design with them. We are going to dive into unique finishes and how to create the kitchen of your dreams with these appliances. Kingston’s products can be purchased in a variety of different finishes to mix and match with your appliances.

Trending

The trends change throughout the seasons and even from month to month. They can definitely be hard to stay up to date with and be even harder to constantly incorporate in your home’s design. These temporary trends should be casually and lightly considered on a regular basis. However, bits and pieces of the trends could easily be incorporated in your home’s design through décor pieces or minimal updating. For example, green has been a consistent trend over the last year so instead of painting an accent wall green, adding green towels or vases can add a pop as well as staying in line with the trend.

Appliance Finishes

Brands such as Samsung and GE are innovating and offer more of the creative finishes for their kitchen appliances. Samsung’s unique finishes consist of “black stainless steel”, “stainless platinum” and “Tuscan stainless steel”. GE offers matte finishes coined “slate” and “black slate” which are unique in style. Rather than choosing the common stainless steel, black or white appliances, these colors would be a fun spin in the kitchen. Matching these colors with other fixture’s may be more difficult.

Fixture Finishes

Faucet and accessories are offered in finishes like chrome, nickel, brass, bronze and matte black at Kingston. Chrome finishes tend to have a cooler tone where as brass, bronze and nickel can be considered more warm. Specifically, for appliances similar to Samsung’s Tuscan Stainless Steel, brass, bronze and nickel finishes may be a better pair than chrome because of the warm tones they radiate. Appliances in “Stainless Platinum” and “Black Stainless” colors may pair better with chrome because of its cooler hue as well as the shiny finish it offers. Polished nickel would even pair well with Black Stainless, again because of its shiny finish also because polished nickel is a perfect mix of warm and cool tones. Appliances similar to “Slate” or “Black Slate” will accent well with brushed finishes of brass or nickel because of their semi matte finish while still allowing the faucet to be eye catching. These options would look great in an industrial style or modern farmhouse style kitchen. The ultimate decision comes from your preferences and what best fits your style and personality!
