Great Flow Rate

From a practical standpoint, nothing will have quite as great an effect on your showering experience as flow rate. This is simply a measure of how many gallons per minute (GPM) move through the shower head. Regulations state that the flow rate shouldn’t exceed 2.5 GPM at 80 pounds per square inch, except in California which limits the flow rate to 1.8 GPM @ 80 PSI.

A Beautiful Finish

There are numerous types of gorgeous finishes for shower heads. The Kingston Brass shower head collection includes:

  • Matte black
  • Antique brass
  • Black stainless
  • Polished nickel
  • Brushed brass
  • …and more!

Select a finish that will complement other fixtures in your bathroom, or that will provide a pop of color against your surfaces.

The Right Shower Head Type For Your Needs

This is where the bulk of your decision-making lies. There are several different types of shower heads:

Fixed Shower Heads

Aside from angling the shower head around on a pivot ball, these shower heads are anchored in the wall, unlike shower heads with a hand wand. Fixed shower heads can rest on adjustable, gooseneck, or other types of shower arms.

Hand-held Shower Heads

These are connected by a long hose to the shower arm. When you’re not holding them in your hand, they rest in a cradle to give you a fixed shower head experience. These are useful for quick rinsing, bathing pets and children, and cleaning your tub.

Adjustable Shower Heads

Adjustable shower heads can provide different spray patterns. These may include rain, mist, aeration, jet, pulse, or massage functions. A good massage shower head should provide firm pressure. Choose whichever pattern gives you the most relaxing shower experience.

Rain Shower heads

These shower heads are generally wider and distribute water from a larger number of nozzles. Make sure your water pressure is high enough to keep your “downpour” strong enough. With more nozzles comes lower pressure — but that’s all part of the fun because these are meant to imitate rainfall.

Dual Shower Heads

If you want a fixed shower but love the flexibility of having a hand wand, consider a dual shower head. This gives you the best of both worlds: a fixed head and a detachable wand unit.
