5 Ways to Make Your Home More Fresh

Spending time at home isn’t as enjoyable when it feels stuffy or stale. Luckily, there are several easy and low-cost ways to improve the atmosphere and make your home feel more fresh.

Experiment with the layout of your rooms

If you have the help to do it safely, then rearranging the layout of your room can do wonders when it comes to trying to freshen up your home. Rearrange the furniture, swap it with furniture from another room, moving your rug over, or trade out lamp shades and artwork. These small changes can all have a big effect.

Make your home smell fresher

This simple change will most likely be the biggest breath of fresh air your home will get from this article. Of course, candles (and other aroma emitters) are an easy first step, but maybe first take a sniff of what you are hiding from. Is your laundry caught up? Are your sheets washed? Are you washed? We might not be going out right now, but keeping up with your hygiene is a freshness that can’t escape you and is also important for your mental health.

Declutter your space

It could be argued that clutter is just as much a stylistic choice as it is the product of the absent-minded. Either way, clutter can reach a point where it becomes distracting. The easiest way to counteract this is to declutter. You will be amazed by how much easier it is to stay on task when your space is cleared of distractions.

Get creative with leftover paint

Chances are you have leftover paint hiding somewhere at home. If you do, think for a moment. Did you have a project that was left unfinished? Is there anywhere that needs a fresh coat? Maybe paint a piece of furniture? If you are feeling brave, consider painting one wall in the room a different color from the rest. Is it a good idea? That’s for you to decide!

Open up your curtains and let in the light

Opening up the curtains and letting in some sunlight is a wonderful way to breathe life into your home. The natural light will help you feel awake and stay on a more normal schedule. It will also help you get Vitamin D throughout the day. Another benefit is that the Ultra-violet waves of sunlight are a natural disinfectant. Do not expect sunlight to disinfect your home for you, though. Think of this benefit as marginal, but still a small plus.
