Tips to Note
In some instances, it may be best to contact a specialist.
For questions or concerns regarding plumbing, doing major renovations, and or specific design ideas, a consultation from experts is highly recommended. DIY projects are to be done with due diligence and safety precautions. We are not experts in DIY and are therefore recommending projects that can be done. Now let’s get into the fun stuff!
Custom Jar Labels
These glass jars are perfect for highly organized kitchen storage. They hold loose items such as sugar, flour, oats, and even cereal.
After purchasing the perfect size jar for your pantry or cabinets, the most important asset is a sharpie or permanent marker. When all the jars are ready to go, write out each product’s name on the jar for easy access. A couple of steps to create an organized shelf, cabinet, or pantry.
Kitchen Garden Box
Having fresh herbs in close range can make for even more delicious meals. Building a garden box requires pieces of wood. The size and amount depend on how large you want the box.
- A drill and screws
- Paint or stain is optional
- brushes are needed.
Finally, choosing the perfect herbs and plants to grow in the box can be found at local hardware or garden stores. Be sure to grab some potting soil as well!
Custom Rope Sign
A really simple yet very cool décor piece is a rope sign. To create a rustic design:
- 1-3 pieces of reclaimed wood
- Glue gun
First, take the pencil and sketch out the word or design directly onto the wood. Then, take your glue gun, with precaution, and apply glue along with your word or design. After this, lay down the rope very intently to ensure the best precision. Let the rope adhere to the glue for a few minutes and you have a custom rope sign!
DIY Chalk Board
With a piece of plywood and chalkboard paint, you can have yourself a convenient chalkboard for chores, mottos, or daily reminders in the kitchen.
Some necessary tools and products are the wood board either plywood, MDF, or hardboard are recommended.
Additional wood for a border and hardware to hang the board securely. A must-have is the chalkboard paint and brushes. Chalk can be purchased in a variety of colors to create fun designs.
An accent wall can be created through the peel and stick tiles, wainscoting, or for a farmhouse feel, wood.
Peel and stick tiles are the most inexpensive and easiest DIY project. As stated in their name, they literally peel and stick to clean, non-textured walls. These can be purchased on Amazon, local hardware stores, and stores like Walmart. These add some dimension to the bathroom with limited resources.
Wainscoting can be a costly project in some cases and is more of a tedious job when it comes to measurements and machinery. Wood is a nice in between the two, it is average in expense and takes a little bit of work.
Wood should be used with heavy consideration because it does need to be sealed from the moisture in the bathroom and also requires tools.
Custom Bathtub Caddy
Many bathtub caddies are made out of wood. Who’s to say you can’t create your own with a twist of personality. This project will require measurements of the bathtub for length and stain or paint for style. A sealant is also recommended for this project because of the wood material. If cup holders, book holders or even candle holders are wanted in the design, cutting that out will be another route in the project. In the end, it is likely to be more cost-effective and completely your own design.
Mason Jar Décor
Mason jars are inexpensive and make for fun and creative décor pieces in the bathroom. The jars commonly can be purchased in bulk for around $10 or individually, they may be found at dollar stores. They can be used as toothbrush tumblers or house fake or real plants. With a little bit of creativity, the mason jars can be painted in a stylish color or be left clear for a minimalist design.
