How to Style Your Home for Matte Black
We’ve all been hearing that black is back. It makes for such a statement while remaining subtle, and we are absolutely in love! You may be wondering, though, how best to style your home to incorporate black fixtures. If over-done, they can leave your home looking dark and dingy. So, let’s talk about how to decorate with black to keep that bright and airy feel!
Go with white walls
When using black fixtures, it is best to use a lighter wall color. This will keep the room bright and help your fixtures to become the focal point. Consider the beautiful kitchen by @sarahjaneinteriors is the perfect example of allowing your fixtures to do all the talking. She sticks to neutral tones all throughout her kitchen and home leaving the faucet in matte black to be the star!
Use natural lighting
By using a ton of natural lighting, your design will feel new and refreshing. It is fairly easy to have a space that utilizes darker hues to become dreary. A simple change such as this will create an invigorating environment regardless of the amount of black elements. @thisoilhouse placed her black fixtures near a window for a bright and mesmerizing guise. Her design is a bit bolder as she uses black throughout, but the darker hues are balanced out by the bright lighting and white walls. Faucet: Heritage KB1970AX 8-Inch Widespread Lavatory Faucet
Add pops of black throughout
An alternative to having one black fixture be the focal point, is incorporating the color throughout your design for added cohesion. Some great and easy ways to do this are by adding black lighting or mirrors in the bathrooms, and black drawer pulls in the kitchen. The bathroom by @fashionablyally also used a black table and black patterned floor to help the black design flow from each corner of the room for a complete transformation.
